UFC 110 Results

Well we did it again for UFC 110 down under in Sydney, Australia not the best performance that we had going 100% but we did nail 7 out of our 9 picks for the fights. Between the weigh ins and checking out the fear in the eyes of the fighters during the stare down we know how to successfully cap a UFC card.

Below is a brief blip of our picks on who to take and the final result.

James Te Huna vs Igor Pokrajac
Take Huna, Huna is coming off a few good wins and he has a very big home field advantage over Pokrajac, and Pokrajac lost his last and first fight in the UFC to an old school fighter.

Final Result:
James Te Huna wins Igor Pokrajac via TKO (strikes) at 3:26 of Round 1.

CB Dollaway vs Goran Reljic
Take CB for this one, this is a good fighter who had bad luck with the past couple fights and he will show up ready for this fight down under.
Final Result: C.B. Dollaway beats Goran Reljic via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after 3 Rounds.

Chris Lytle vs Brian Foster
Take Chris Lytle, Brians not a big punch and punching is what Lights Out Lytle is all about, and Brians a little younger so ya never know but if you have to parlay the fights take Lytle.
Final Result:Chris Lytle def. Brian Foster via Submission (kneebar) at 1:41 of Round 1.

Stephan Bonner vs Krzysztof Soszynski
Bonner will take this one, they both are coming off big loss but Bonners was to a 46yr old Hammer, he will come out ready to knock the lights out of his opponent.
Final Result: Krzysztof Soszynski def. Stephan Bonnar via TKO (cut) at 1:04 of Round 3. *this victory came from a cut otherwise Bonnar was favored to win although irrelevant to the actual result it is noted.

Mirko Cro Cop vs Ben Rothwell
My pick is Cro Cop, He hasn't looked good in the UFC since day one, BUT its Cro Cop this guy is a monster, sadly;y he hasn't let the UFC fans no that, and Ben is coming off a very bad loss, and i think he will do well in the UFC, but if the guy from Pride shows up, its all over for BIG Ben.
Final Result: Mirko CroCop beats Anthony Perosh via TKO doctor stopped due to cut after Round 2.

Keith Jardine vs Ryan Bader
Take Jardine, he is a very good fighter who has had the bad luck of holding a double edge sword, one on side in his past few fights he has fought fighters who are all in the Top 10 of the Light Heavy weights, and on the other side, he has fought Top 10 fighters, its great as long as your up for the challenge, Bader is a good fighter, but Jardine is a couple notches above him, and with that being said I wouldn't be surprised if Bader did land a big hand and drop him.
Final Results: Ryan Bader def. Keith Jardine via KO (punch) at 2:10 of Round 3.

Joe Stevenson vs George Sotiropoulos
Take Sotiropoulos, I like UFC guys a little more then over seas fighters usually, not forever but in their first couple fights, for some reason the transition from one place to another has shown to be a problem from most, and George did win his first and last UFC fight but it wasn't anyone who should have been a problem for this fighter but expect him to go the distance and win.
Final Result:George Sotiropoulos def. Joe Stevenson via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after 3 Rounds.

Wanderlei Silva vs Michael Bisping
My pick is The Count. I am a big AXE murderer fan always have been always will be, BUT he is a little older, not real old but old enough that fighting for the past 15 yrs has taken a toll, not to mention I just think Bisping is a better fighter now, Silva is on his way down where as Bisping is a next generation fighter, we will be talking about Bisping in 10yrs. I just kinda hope Silva doesn't get knocked out, and I'm not saying this in any negative way, but I don"t want him to be like Ali.

Final Result:
Wanderlei Silva def. Michael Bisping via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after 3 Rounds.

Minotauro Nogueira vs Cain Velasquez
My pick is Nogueira, don't really have to have a reason with this one but, I like Cain and the fact that he is still undefeated is something to mention and something that can help him in the fight, but he is fighting one of the Greatest fighters of all time, and I don't think Cain has what it takes. Nogerias arsenal is to vast and to refined to be taken by a young wrestler with a good ground game.
Final Result: Cain Velasquez def. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via KO (punches) at 2:20 of Round 1.

Elvis Sinosic vs Chris Haseman
Take Elvis. Chris did beat him in a fight a long time ago but times have changed and Elvis has talked about a rematch now that the UFC is global.
The Elvis fight was scraped due to an injury to Elvis' shoulder.

UFC 110 Picks Live from Australia

UFC 110 takes place down under and Cooper's Pick has all the best UFC Picks guaranteed to turn you a profit.

The UFC is taking the MMA game "down under" for the first time as UFC 110 betting takes place from Australia on Saturday.

Headlining the card is a battle between Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira and Cain Velasquez with the winner moving into prime contender status in the heavyweight division. Nogueira is 32-5-1 in his career and 3-1 in the UFC. His last fight was a unanimous decision over Randy Couture at UFC 102 in August. Velasquez is now 7-0 in his career and 5-0 in the UFC. His last victory was a destruction of Ben Rothwell at UFC 104. "I expect a war," Velasquez said, "In all my fights I expect a war, but I don't like to lose and I know that to beat me you'll have to kill me and to beat him you have to kill him. So that is what we are going to do to each other." The UFC odds on this bout at SBG Global are a pick.

The experience edge in the fight goes to Nogueira but the talent edge probably goes to Velasquez. "He's a good guy, he's in shape, he pushes the fight and he's hungry," Nogueira said about Velasquez, "But I have much more experience than him, and that's my advantage. When we get into the cage, he'll see."

Another key fight on the card has Wanderlei Silva against Michael Bisping. Silva is 32-10-1 in his career but a very poor 2-5 in the UFC. He has done nothing lately and could be on his way out if he doesn’t look good in this fight. Bisping is 19-2 in his career and 8-2 in the UFC. He last won against Denis Kang in UFC 105. Silva is a -150 favorite in UFC odds.

Also on the main card it is Keith Jardine facing Ryan Bader. Jardine is 14-7-1 in his career while Bader is unbeaten at 11-0. Bader is a -155 favorite in this bout.

Joe Stevenson is a -270 favorite against George Sotiropoulos. Stevenson is 36-10 overall and 8-4 in the UFC. Sotiropoulos is 11-2 in his career and 4-0 in the UFC betting.

Ben Rothwell had to pull out of his bout against Mirko Filipovic due to a virus so it will now be Sydney, Australian fighter Anthony Perosh taking on Filipovic. This fight is still on the main card. Perosh is 10-5 in his career and 0-2 in the UFC. Filipovic is 25-7 overall and 2-3 in the UFC.

Stephan Bonnar makes his return to the UFC on the undercard. He is 14-6 overall and 5-5 in the UFC. He is best remembered for winning the first season of the Ultimate Fighter. He goes up against Krzysztof Soszynski who is 19-10-1 in his career and 3-1 in the UFC. Other fights on the preliminary card have Chris Lytle facing Brian Foster, CB Dollaway vs. Goran Reljic and James Te Huna vs. Igor Pokrajac. The fight between Elvis Sinosic and Chris Haseman was cancelled due to a shoulder injury suffered by Sinosic.

ufc 109 recap

Ever since UFC 109 was introduced, the MMA community instantly overlooked the recent card and opted to start discussing what many believe to be more exciting events to come. Despite how we may feel, every event is crucial in the ever-changing world of Mixed Martial Arts and 109 is no exception. Today, I decided to start something I promise to do after every card. People, I give you “5 things we learned”, UFC 109.

Number One – Paulo Thiago is no joke. I have been behind this man ever since he was introduced to the MMA game and, with the exception of Jon Fitch (who is absolutely amazing); Thiago hasn’t had a single blemish on his record. Paulo’s bout with Swick is just more evidence that the BOPE special forces-turned MMA contender is going nowhere but forward. Possible future opponents? Let’s get Kos vs. Paulo II. I predict Thiago takes that one, too.

Number Two – Styles make fights. Most people know this, of course, but I believe that Sonnen’s victory is a perfect example of the old adage. I am not saying that Sonnen is better than Marquart and I am not saying that wrestling is the be all end all game, but this is why GSP, Jon Fitch, Brock Lesnar and every other wrestling phenom win against good strikers. Lay, pray, get them tired and finish it out. Also, we saw just how much heart Sonnen had in this fight. Good luck in that title shot, Chael. =S

Number Three – Matt Serra is better than people give credit. I was so tired of hearing how Serra should hang upMatt Serra the gloves after his losses to GSP and Hughes. Serra will always show up to fight and this was the perfect fight to place “The Terror” back into the fans radar. Granted, Trigg has never lost by decision, so those heavy hands and BJJ black belt were primed for a finish, but the experience can’t be denied. If Serra is fighting, I’m watching.

Number Four – It’s scary how good Demian Maia looked. Here we have, arguably, the best BJJ artist in the octagon moving, countering and kicking like someone who was born to strike. Watch his fights prior to this one, and it’s crystal clear how much he has improved! I am keeping this one short; Maia is absolutely amazing. Maia will OWN the octagon in years to come. Maia is elite, and he’s only getting better.

Number Five – Randy is crisp at 205. With this recent victory, we saw Couture use every aspect of striking, clinching and groundwork he needed to. With 3 fights in the past 7 months, Couture just will not go away, and this fight padded the fact that Randy still has fight in him; not that we didn’t already know that.

UFC 109 Randy Couture vs. Coleman

UFC 109 Preview

UFC 109 on Saturday, February 6th has 11 bouts on the card including a matchup of Hall of Fame fighters as Randy Couture takes on Mark Coleman. There are five fights on the pay-per-view portion of the card and six preliminary bouts, two of which will be televised on Spike TV.

UFC 109 has a lot of big UFC odds favorites and that is somewhat unusual. Couture is -450 in UFC odds at SBG Global for his bout against Coleman. Not many people are giving Coleman much of a chance. These two fighters were supposed to meet almost 12 years ago in UFC 17 but Couture was injured and pulled out. Couture is a five-time UFC champion and he has proven that he can still win big fights as he got a unanimous decision against Brandon Vera at UFC 105. Coleman was the first UFC heavyweight champion but he has not fought the same level of competition that Couture has faced recently. Coleman spent much of his career fighting in Japan.

The other co-main event has Nate Marquardt as a -400 favorite against Chael Sonnen in UFC odds at SBG Global. Marquardt is 8-2 in the UFC odds and was very impressive last time out in UFC 102 as he defeated Demian Maia. The only two losses suffered by Marquardt in UFC action came against Thales Leites and Anderson Silva.

Mike Swick is a -220 favorite over Paulo Thiago in another main event bout. Swick will be trying to bounce back from a loss to Dan Hardy. Swick was looking at a title shot but the loss to Hardy set him back. Now he will have to fight his way back up. “I feel like I’ve made it pretty far and I want to make it all the way.” Swick said.

Demian Maia is -360 over Dan Miller in one of the other feature bouts while the only fight that has close odds on the main event card is the one between Matt Serra and Frank Trigg as Serra is a -130 favorite at SBG Global.

Our Friends over at Dock Squad Sports have informed us of the two fights on the Preliminary card set to be televised on Spike TV are Mac Danzig vs. Justin Buchholz and Melvin Guillard vs. Ronys Torres. The rest of the preliminary card has Phillipe Nover vs. Rob Emerson, Brian Stann vs. Phil Davis, Tim Hague vs. Chris Tuchscherer and Mostapha Al-Turk vs. Rolles Gracie.

Top 10 Upcoming Fights in UFC

10. Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman, UFC 109-

This will be like watching a pro wrestling event between two massive, powerful old dudes. The only difference is that neither has a gimmick. MMA bettors should keep an eye on this one because Coleman should have good odds yet he has the style to match up with Couture.

9. Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller, UFC 109-

Also at UFC 109 on February 6, 2010, Maia and Miller is an intriguing upset bet pick for many in the betting community. Miller is an unknown but he has the skill on the ground to avoid being submitted by Maia for a little while at least and perhaps an advantage on the feet.

8. Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping, UFC 110

Silva is a solid betting favorite going into this fight on February 20, 2010, but Bisping has the technical boxing skills to frustrate him and perhaps win.

7. Ryan Bader vs. Keith Jardine, UFC 110

Jardine is the most inconsistent light heavyweight in the UFC. The young Bader is already a slight favorite in the Sportsbook but the big question is which Jardine will show up in this one.

6. Junior dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga, UFC Fight Night on Versus

This March 21 tilt on Versus is a battle of two heavyweight title contenders with equally well-rounded skills. Expect very close odds on this one going into the fight and many bettors riding the wave of good fortune that dos Santos seems to be on.

5.Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin, UFC 111

Mir is using power lifting techniques to become the strongest physically we've ever seen him in anticipation for a rubber match with Brock Lesnar. He’ll gets the closest thing to Lesnar in Carwin, a fellow title contender.

4. Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch, UFC 111-

Alves lost the first fight via up-kick to Fitch. But now, he should be the favorite when the two likely meet at a UFC event down the line (111 potentially). Fitch isn't exciting but all he does is win. Who will the MMA and UFC bettors side with on this one?

3. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria vs. Cain Velazquez, UFC 110-

Prior to his fight with Randy Couture, many bettors thought “Minotauro” Nogueira was on the verge of retirement and another loss. But now, the tables have turned as Big Nog is a slight favorite against his younger, more athletic counterpart for their UFC 110 headliner.

2. Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn, UFC 112-

It seems every time Penn fights the next lightweight challenger, a new group of fans and bettors stands up and prematurely predicts his demise. Edgar has the boxing and wrestling to keep this one close and potentially pull a big upset in the minds of some bettors. This fight is likely to go down at UFC 112 in April from Abu Dhabi, UAE. Penn has been unbeatable at the 155-pound level, I wouldn’t bet against him.

1. Vitor Belfort vs. Anderson Silva, UFC 112-

“The Spider” is the kind of UFC fighter you simply don't bet against, ever. But Belfort is the kind of guy who can knock out any middleweight with one well-placed shot, and Silva's chin hasn't been tested in a while. Silva should be a solid favorite but there's a reason why they call his Brazilian countryman and ex-UFC champion “The Phenom.” This could be the most explosive MMA fight of the year for bettors and fans alike.
