UCONN is red hot coming into the Final 4 winning the Big East tourney facing 4 ranked teams, but can they take out a Kentucky team that is one of the most athletic teams in the nation and has taken out Ohio State and North Carolina in their last 2 games? Both teams play a very up-tempo game, but since the Wildcats are a great team on the break UCONN will have the advantage if they can slow the pace.

These 2 teams met in the Maui invitational early in the season and the Huskies beat the Wildcats by 17 points in an easy win. In that game UCONN was on fire shooting the rock and UK could not hit water if they fell out of a boat. That will have to change this time around or Kentucky’s impressive Big Dance run will be over.

In their last NCAA Tournament games UCONN got by Arizona beating them 65-63 and Kentucky beat North Carolina 76-69.

UCONN has 2 guys that the Wildcats really have to worry about in the tandem of G Kemba Walker and G/F Jeremy Lamb, who scored 39 points combined in their Elite 8 win over Arizona. These guys are key, but both guys did not shoot that well in the Huskies last win and Walker was only 1/7 from 3-pt land, but UCONN played good D holding Arizona to only 39.3% shooting and 19% 3-pt shooting. Walker is the big gun and he scored 29 points in the game against UK earlier this season.

The 2 backcourt players of Lamb and Walker could use some help from UCONN F/C Alex Oriakhi, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win in the Maui invitational, but he has not scored in double figures in any game in the NCAA Tournament.

G Brandon Knight leads UK and this season how Knight goes Kentucky goes. When he has struggled this season the Wildcats usually lose. He was solid in the UNC game scoring for 22 points, shooting 5/11 from beyond the 3-pt arc, and he grabbed 7 boards.

Knight and the Wildcats backcourt is solid, but UCONN may be more concerned with the F duo of Josh Harrellson and Terrence Jones, who combined for 23 points and 15 boards in the UNC game. UCONN gave up 16 offensive rebounds in their win over Arizona and they cannot let that happen in this game.

Basically, UCONN has to play good all around D against a Kentucky squad that had all 5 starters score in double figures in the win over North Carolina.

This season UCONN has been a better betting team at 21-12-2 ATS while Kentucky is only at 16-15-1 ATS.

The Huskies are 3-1 ATS in their 4 Big Dance game not covering in the game against Arizona. While Kentucky is also 3-1 ATS in the tourney they have covered in 3 straight games after failing to cover in their first game. UCONN has an Under record of 3-1 in the tournament and Kentucky has an Under record of 3-0-1.
