NFL Week 8 Picks Cowboys vs Eagles

NFL Week 8 Preview: Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles (-3 ½)

The online sportsbook experts and Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones finally get to see if the
Cowboys can be considered a contender in the NFC East when the Cowboys travel to
Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. The Cowboys did what a good football team would
do in beating up on a very weak St. Louis defense in a big week seven win. But the
Cowboys cannot allow that confidence to mask the fact that the Rams are just not a good
football team and that is a game the Cowboys should have won. After a rough start, the
Philadelphia Eagles look like it is starting to get on track. This will be the test that the
Cowboys have been waiting for.

The price per head bookie websites have been wondering how the Eagles will play now
that quarterback Michael Vick has had an extra week to heal. Vick took a pounding
behind a bad offensive line and sustained a concussion, injured ankle and injured arm all
in the first six weeks of the season. But the Eagles’ offensive line looks like it has started
to pull things together and is giving Vick some more time. The Eagles’ quarterback still
finds himself running for his life at times, but that has always been a part of the Michael
Vick arsenal of effective offensive weapons.

Dallas Cowboys
Anyone that picks NFL games knows that the Cowboys have a huge problem on offense
that it is ignoring. While the Cowboys’ running game was running right through a porous
St. Louis defense, quarterback Tony Romo was still relatively ineffective. Romo did
manage to throw two touchdown passes in the game, but his 166 passing yards shows that
Romo is still unable to find weaknesses in a defense that he can exploit. The Philadelphia
defensive secondary offers a significantly different challenge that the Rams’ did. If Romo
is not careful, he could throw the game right to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Eagles
It would be a betonline scam to suggest that the Eagles are on the rise and ready to
dominate the NFC East. The Eagles’ offensive and defensive lines are still in need of
work, and the linebackers in Philadelphia are not shutting down the other team’s running
game. Dallas rookie running back DeMarco Murray could be a key factor in determining
who wins this game. If the Philadelphia defense cannot stop the Dallas running game,
then it may not matter how well Dallas quarterback Tony Romo plays. The Philadelphia
has a few weapons of its own in quarterback Michael Vick, running back LeSean McCoy
and wide receiver DeSean Jackson. It may be more than the struggling Dallas secondary
can handle.

The Bottom Line
The Eagles want to continue to feed off the momentum it created in its win over the
Redskins in week six. These are two desperate football teams that may only be separated
by skill at the quarterback position. If that is the case, then you have to give this game to
the Eagles.
