The Packers (7-0) are coming off a bye and they are last undefeated team in the NFL and they are the betting favorites to win in all this season. Aaron Rodgers is the frontrunner for the MVP and he will be facing a struggling QB in Phillip Rivers, who is coming off a bad game in the Chargers’ loss last Monday night and he leads the league in INT and only has the 19th highest QB rating. Rivers has to avoid the turnover in this game and Rodgers will really test the Chargers and their 4th ranked pass defense in this home game.

The Packers are coming off a bye and in their last game a couple weeks back they were on the road and beat the Minnesota Vikings 33-27 while the Chargers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-20 on the road.

This season the Packers are 5-2 ATS and have an O/U record of 4-3 and the Chargers are 2-5 ATS and have an O/U record of 3-4.

The Chargers and their solid pass defense will try to contain Rodgers, who leads the NFL in completion percentage (71.5%), TD (20) and passer rating (125.7). WR’s Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson have combined for 9 TD and each is averaging over 16 yards per catch. San Diego’s pass rush, which only ranks 26th in the league in sacks (13), has to get to Rodgers and their secondary must keep the big play WR’s from making the play down the field. Tall task to say the least.

The Packers only rank 24th in the league in rushing yards per game, but lead RB James Starks played well last week averaging 5.8 yards per carry. The Chargers’ run defense ranks 17th in the league and they cannot only focus on Rodgers.

Rivers needs to break out of his slump for the Chargers to snap their 2-game losing streak. He did pass for 369 yards in the loss to the Chiefs, but did not have a TD and he tossed 2 INT. WR’s Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd are each averaging over 17 yards per catch and the one thing the Chargers have going for them is that they face a Green Bay pass defense that ranks 2nd to last in the league. Still, this game is all on Rivers’ shoulders, as he has to play well like the Rivers of the last few seasons.

Green Bay has been solid defending the run ranking 10th in the league and they have to contain San Diego RB Ryan Mathews, who not only leads the Chargers in rushing yards, but also is their 3rd leading receiver. With Rivers struggling Mathews must play better than he has in the Chargers 2-game losing streak when he has failed to rush for over 60 yards in each game.

In some betting trends for this non-conference match up the Packers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games facing a team with a winning record, and has an Under record of 11-4 in their last 15 road games.

The Chargers are 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games facing a team with a winning record, and have an Under record of 7-0 in their last 7 home games.
