Regardless of if LSU (12-0) beats Georgia (10-2) in the SEC title game they
will be playing for the National Championship while the Bulldogs must pull off
the big upset if they are going to snag a BCS bowl berth. Besides LSU and an
undefeated Houston team Georgia may be the hottest team in the nation, as after
they lost their first 2 games they have won 10 straight. Still, beating the Tigers
will be far from easy since LSU has been firing on all cylinders on offense and
have the nation’s 2nd ranked defense.

Georgia and LSU did not play last season, but the previous season the Tigers
beat the Bulldogs 20-13.

Last week LSU passed a big test beating Arkansas 41-17 and Georgia beat
Georgia Tech 31-17.

Both of these teams have been a good bet on the season with the Bulldogs ate
9-3 ATS with an O/U record of 6-5-1 and LSU is at 8-4 ATS and has an O/U
record of 5-7.

LSU’s offense has scored at least 41 points in their last 3 games and their
rushing offense ranked 18th in the nation. Tigers’ RB’s Michael Ford and Spencer
Ware have combined to rush for nearly 1,400 yards this season and RB Kenny
Hilliard had 102 rushing yards last week in the win over Arkansas. Georgia has
a great run defense ranked 6th in the nation and playing well against the run may
be their only chance to win this game.

Georgia has the nation’s 32nd ranked pass defense and while LSU only ranks
100th in the nation in passing yards per game Tigers’ QB Jordan Jefferson
passed for 208 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in the win over Arkansas.

Georgia QB Aaron Murray leads the Bulldogs and their 47th ranked passing
offense and his main targets are WR’s Malcolm Mitchell (34 rec 582 yards 4 TD)
and TE Orson Charles (40 rec 530 yards 5 TD). LSU has a great pass defense
and their pass rush has 33 sacks this season so Georgia’s offensive line must
play well in this game.

Georgia RB Isaiah Crowell is banged up with an ankle injury, but should go in
this game. The Tigers have stuffed the run for, pretty much, the whole season
and if he is shut down Murray will have to light up the scoreboard for the Bulldogs

to have any chance at putting off the upset.

In some betting trends for this SEC title game the Tigers are 7-1 ATS in their last
8 games against teams with a winning record and they have an Over record of 4-
1-1 in their last 6 games when they are the favorite.

The Bulldogs have covered the spread in 8 of their last 10 games, but they have
not covered the spread in their last 6 games as an underdog, and in their last 4
games as an underdog the posted total has gone Over every time.
