Auburn at Mississippi State

Auburn at Mississippi State
Thursday, 7:45 pm Eastern - ESPN

Young quarterbacks will be on display on Thursday night as Auburn visits Mississippi State in a football betting game that can be seen on ESPN.  The team with the higher profile quarterback is Auburn who has Cameron Newton. He was simply brilliant last week against Arkansas State as he threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more.  Mississippi State redshirt freshman Tyler Russell was also very good as he threw for five TDs in their win over Memphis.

The current College football line stands at Auburn as a 1.5 -point favorite with total of 56.5 at SBG Global.

This is the SEC opener for both teams so the quality of play should be higher than it was last week. Arkansas State and Memphis are not good teams so it is hard to know who had the better performance last week.  Newton sure did look unstoppable though and he could lead Auburn to a big year. He was named SEC Player of the Week. Mississippi State is at home and that is their main advantage in this game. Auburn has really struggled away from home but with Newton they may be able to get some road wins this college football betting season.

Mississippi State has two quarterbacks and both will play on Thursday night. Rarely does a two quarterback system work.  Chris Relf is the junior who has experience and he also played well last week going 7 of 9 passes for 116 yards and a TD.

Auburn has not been a good team in conference play recently as they are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 conference games. The Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on grass. As mentioned earlier, Auburn has struggled on the road. The Tigers are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games. The Tigers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings against Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 conference games. The Bulldogs are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games.

It could be a high scoring college football betting game since Auburn put up 608 yards last week while Mississippi State had 569 yards.  The Over is 4-0-2 in the Tigers last 6 games overall. The Under is 16-7-2 in the Tigers last 25 conference games. The Over is 4-1 in the Bulldogs last 5 games overall. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.
