The Texans may have to win this Monday night match up with the Ravens,
as they are 5-7 and trail the Jacksonville Jaguars by 2 games in the AFC
South. After a good start to the season Houston has lost 5 of their last 6 games
including losing last week 34-24 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Things do not get
any easier this week facing Baltimore and their 7th ranked defense.

The Ravens are coming off a tough 13-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who
they now trail by 1 game in the AFC North. Baltimore has struggled on offense
as of late combining to score 27 points in their last 2 games after they had
averaged almost 29 ppg in their previous 6 games. They have a good chance to
get back on track this Monday night against a Texans’ defense that ranks 29th in
the league and ranks dead last in pass defense giving up an average of 287.4
passing yards per game. With their weak defense the Texans may have to get
into a shootout to win.

QB Joe Flacco and RB Ray Rice lead the Baltimore offense and Flacco and the
WR duo of Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason may put up some huge numbers
against a weak Texans’ secondary. The Texans have to pressure Flacco, but
that is not likely, as they only rank 29th in the league in sacks (19). Also, Flacco
will have some more protection in this game with blocking FB Le'Ron McClain
back after missing some time with an ankle sprain.

Matt Schaub has over 3,000 passing yards on the season and he and WR Andre
Johnson (71 rec 1,018 yards 5 TD) is one of the best QB-WR tandems in the
league. Last week in the loss to the Eagles Schaub passed for 337 yards with 2
TD and 1 INT, but he will be up against a Baltimore pass defense that ranks 11th
in the league.

Houston RB Adrian Foster leads the league in rushing yards and ranks 2nd on the
Texans in catches. He will have to help Schaub on offense and the better he can
run the ball the more Houston can control the clock, which is good keeping their
D off the field. He has struggled against teams that have a solid run defense,
which is not good for him in this game since the Baltimore run defense ranks
6th in the league and only gave up 54 rushing yards last week in the loss to the

The Ravens have won all 3 games they have played against the Texans.

This season the Ravens are 5-6-1 ATS and the Texans are 5-7 ATS. While
the Texans have only covered the spread once in their last 5 home games the

Ravens are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite of 0.5-3.

NFL Pick: The Ravens are simply a better team than the Texans and they will come
out and play well snapping out of their offensive slump and win this game and
cover the spread. With the weak D of the Texans and how their offense can
score the Over is also the pick for this AFC game.
